He appeared to have been murdered in a robbery gone wrong. Friends told detectives to look into Jeff's ex-girlfriend Heather Mizer. Police searched for her, finding that Heather and her new boyfriend Shawn Wilhelm had vanished the day following the murder. While searching for the couple, investigators visited Shawn's mother Sandy. She admitted that her son and Heather had recently been at the house along with Shawn's cousin Justin Clapp and friends Joseph Walton and Brett Matthews. Sandy gave police notes Shawn had written - all talking about how he wanted Jeff dead. Officers soon tracked down Joseph Walton and questioned him. He spilled details about the murder - and confirmed that Shawn had wanted to kill Jeff. Joseph Walton, Justin Clapp, Brett Matthews, Heather, and Shawn are charged for Jeff's murder.
