Was it an astonishing blunder or something more sinister that allowed Britain's most famous prisoner to walk free from Chelmsford jail? Three police forces are searching for failed asylum seeker Hadush Kebatu who was convicted of sexual offences against a 14 year old girl and a woman. He looked surprised and confused when prison officers told him he could go free as he was waiting to be transferred to a detention centre and then deported to Ethiopia. Professor David Wilson, himself a former prison governor, says it wouldn't be a surprise if it was an inside job.
