On August 7th, 2023, law enforcement raced to the parking lot of a local business, where a man was discovered lying on the asphalt, gravely injured from a brutal attack. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and then lifeflighted to a major medical center due to the severity of his injuries. Meanwhile, police turned to security cameras to find out who could have possibly attacked a struggling homeless man who was already down on his luck. What they found was the entire assault captured on video from several angles. The footage showed the victim being punched and hit over the head with skateboards by two teenagers living in a nearby shelter.
