An attempted murder investigation in Marion County, Florida, quickly turned into a he-said/she-said after a woman claimed her boyfriend slit his own throat, while he told deputies she attacked him with a kitchen knife during an argument. Although Cathrin Kennedy insisted the injury was self-inflicted, investigators found extensive blood evidence and a knife in the home that they say aligned more closely with the victim’s account, who survived the attack after driving himself to the hospital. Kennedy was arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated attempted homicide, has pleaded not guilty, and is being held without bond as she awaits trial.
