On August 19th, 2002 in Manitou Springs Colorado, Amanda and 21 year old Michael Paul Baldwin would be together for most of the day, allegedly she was helping him find another young girl that had accused him of... SA. After Baldwin lead Amanda down a secluded trail, he would BRUTALLY take her life. While the official autopsy report deemed the cause of death, strangulation... What she endured was far, FAR worse. The autopsy would also show that Amanda was 3 1/2 months pregnant. Amanda Hanson was just about to start her Freshmen year in High School... She was 15 years old. YouTube. Michael Baldwin was tracked down in New Mexico the following day and questioned by El Paso County Sheriff's Department. He tells quite a story to detectives... (Conclusion/SPOILERS) El Paso County Sheriff John Anderson called the killing of Amanda Hanson the "most vicious" he had seen in 30 years of law enforcement. The crime prompted him to approach lawmakers with "Amanda's Law," a bill that would allow suspects to be charged with two counts of murder if they kill a pregnant woman. A law that from what I can tell, was never passed. After Baldwin and his attorney's reviewed the evidence the prosecution had against him, he pleaded guilty to 1st degree murder to avoid the death penalty... A guilty plea for 1st degree murder comes with a life sentence with no chance for parole, and in February of 2003, that is exactly what he got. I quite literally cannot find any photos, news or inmate information on Michael Baldwin, so I am assuming that he is not longer with us...
