The criminal claimed a man’s life after catching him having an affair. But rather than try to conceal the crime scene, he began shuffling through the victim’s pockets while looking for a strange slip of paper. He later escorted the victim’s mistress to a bus and handed her a note before leaving that simply read, “3X3-X-097”. The man then walked away into the night. Just days later, a second crime unfolded that perfectly mirrored the first crime. Days later, someone sent an ominous letter to a local newspaper that was signed by someone calling themselves “3X”, and that’s when police knew that the crimes were related. 3X eventually sent a letter directly to the police, claiming to have been working for a Russian Spy Organization. He claimed that both of the victims had been affiliated with the organization as well, and that 3X had been selected to end the men’s lives, but he never explained why. No further letters were ever received, and both crimes remain unsolved to this day. 3X has never been found. This true crime documentary from 2023 will give you chills.
