At 7.34pm on 2 June 2016 a 999 call as made to Surrey Police by a small child saying that their mother had hurt them and their father. Police rushed to a property in Wimborne Avenue in the town of Redhill and were confronted with a scene of horror, lying on the kitchen floor was 38 year old Dawn Rhodes, her throat had been cut to the point where she was almost decapitated.
The child who had called 999 had a large wound to their arm and Dawn’s husband, Robert Rhodes had knife marks in his back as well as head injuries and was inconsolable. He told Police that Dawn had attacked both him and their child and in order to save their lives, he had killed his wife.
The only problem is, it was all a lie, Rhodes had murdered his wife but, even worse, he had manipulated their child, who was under 10 years old, into helping him
