Timothy McVeigh was an American domestic terrorist responsible for the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Motivated by anti-government ideology, he carried out a large-scale bombing targeting a federal building. He was arrested shortly after the attack, convicted on multiple federal charges, and executed in 2001.

Herbert William Mullin became one of California's most infamous serial killers after murdering 13 people in and around Santa Cruz between October 1972 and February 1973. Mullin later claimed he believed the killings were necessary to prevent catastrophic earthquakes, a delusion linked to severe mental illness. His short but deadly murder spree ended with his arrest in February 1973, and his case remains one of the most widely studied examples of psychosis and serial homicide in the United States.

Andrew Phillip Cunanan carried out a five-victim murder spree across four states between April and July 1997 that culminated in the fatal shooting of Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace outside his Miami Beach home. Eight days after killing Versace, Cunanan died by suicide aboard a houseboat in Miami Beach as law enforcement closed in.

Kyle Clifford is a British man convicted in connection with a 2024 triple homicide in Hertfordshire, England. The case involved the killing of multiple members of a family following the breakdown of a personal relationship. He was later convicted and received a whole-life sentence, meaning he will remain in prison for the rest of his life.

Stephen William Beal killed his former girlfriend and business partner Ildiko Krajnyak with a package bomb planted inside their day spa in Aliso Viejo, California, on May 15, 2018. The explosion killed Krajnyak and seriously injured two clients, triggering a lengthy federal investigation that focused on Beal's explosives knowledge and evidence recovered from his Long Beach home. After an initial arrest, release and later rearrest, Beal faced federal prosecution and a 2022 mistrial before being convicted at retrial in 2023. He was sentenced in January 2024 to life imprisonment plus an additional 30 years.

John Franklin Howard is an American man convicted in connection with an attempted murder-for-hire plot against his wife in Texas. The case gained attention due to the level of planning and the use of a hired attacker. He was later convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Al-Mutahan McLean is an American man convicted of the prolonged abuse and murder of his 10-year-old son in Dayton, Ohio, in 2019. The case became nationally known due to the sustained nature of the abuse and the severity of the conditions the child endured over several years. He later pleaded guilty to multiple charges and received a lengthy prison sentence, with the case highlighting both extreme intra-family violence and systemic failures in child protection oversight.

Operating over a short but intense period, the killer targeted vulnerable women and carried out highly violent attacks before disappearing without identification.
