Bruce Koklich became known in true crime coverage after being convicted in connection with the disappearance and presumed murder of his wife, millionaire real estate broker Jana Koklich, in Michigan. The case generated major media attention because Jana vanished without a trace in 2009, leaving investigators to pursue a homicide prosecution despite never recovering her body.

Craig Mulligan became one of the United Kingdom’s most shocking juvenile killers after being convicted for his role in the murder of a five-year-old child in South Wales in 2021. The case horrified Britain because Mulligan was only 13 years old at the time of the killing, making him one of the youngest convicted murderers in modern Welsh criminal history. The investigation generated enormous public outrage after details emerged about abuse inside the household, repeated safeguarding failures and warnings allegedly ignored by authorities before the murder occurred. The case later became one of Britain’s most disturbing examples of child-on-child violence combined with systemic failures involving social services and child protection agencies.

Donald McMillan Jr. murdered 62-year-old Helen Fiona Torbet in the Scottish Highlands in July 1993 after developing an obsession with her during her regular stays at his parents' guesthouse near Inverinate. After killing Torbet, McMillan concealed her body in the grounds of the property and maintained for months that she had left with another man. A lengthy missing-person investigation eventually focused on McMillan, who directed police to the burial site. He was convicted of murder in 1994 and sentenced to life imprisonment, later receiving a 15-year punishment part. McMillan remained imprisoned until his death in 2007.

James “Jimmy” Scandirito Jr. became the focus of a bizarre Florida homicide investigation after his father, former Macomb County District Judge James “Skip” Scandirito Sr., disappeared from his Boca Raton home in March 2018. Scandirito Jr. initially told investigators that his 74-year-old father had gone missing. Police soon identified inconsistencies in his account and began monitoring his movements. On April 3, 2018, investigators followed Scandirito Jr. to the former Ocean Breeze Golf Club in Boca Raton. Human remains were subsequently discovered at the abandoned golf course and identified as those of James Scandirito Sr. His body had been dismembered and parts had been concealed in bags and buried. Scandirito Jr. was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Prosecutors argued that he killed his father for financial gain, pointing to evidence that he was his father's sole beneficiary and had attempted to access his father's financial accounts after his death. He testified that he and his father had been drinking and using drugs on March 28, 2018, and that he discovered his father unresponsive after leaving the room. He claimed that he panicked because he feared being blamed for the drugs and decided to dispose of the body rather than contact police.
