Today’s true crime case takes us to 18th September 2012 when, at 10.14am a 999 call was made to Greater Manchester Police reporting an attempted burglary at 30 Abbey Gardens in Mottram. This was a routine 999 call one that officers likely dealt with on a daily basis however the man calling, Dale Cregan, an extremely dangerous, one eyed psychopathic gangland killer was setting a trap. He was already wanted by Police for 2 murders and had decided to go out in a blaze of glory by murdering police officers. PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes attended and, as they approached the door, Cregan came out firing murdering both with a Glock handgun and throwing a grenade at the two defenceless policewomen as they lay dead or dying. Dale Cregan then calmly walked into a Police station and said “I dropped the gun at the scene and I’ve murdered two police officers.
