In September 2024, authorities investigated concerns about Jorgia Jackson’s treatment by her father, James Jackson, and his girlfriend, Patricia Madrid. Evidence, including contradictory messages between them, implicated Patricia in severe restrictions on Jorgia, while James allegedly intervened minimally. Patricia was later fatally shot, prompting a murder investigation. Surveillance and forensic findings initially linked her ex-husband, Mark Sandoval, but evidence ultimately pointed to his brother, Matthew Sandoval, who was charged with murder and tampering with evidence.

On August 27, 2021, 80-year-old Edna Suttles disappeared after meeting a man at a Food Lion parking lot. Security footage and a store loyalty card led to Daniel Printz, a handyman with a kidnapping conviction. Investigators found human remains, stolen items, and evidence linking him to other missing persons. Printz confessed to murdering Edna and three others, admitting to dissolving a fourth victim’s remains. He was sentenced to life in federal prison in 2022 after leading authorities to Edna’s grave.

On March 19, 2023, 24-year-old Colby Vinson was fatally shot outside his Florida apartment, with his four-year-old daughter, Presley, found alone at the scene. Custody had recently shifted to Colby after a legal battle. Initial suspicions of robbery were refuted by evidence pointing to a personal motive. Rachiel Moore, Presley’s mother, claimed Colby was abusive, but her account conflicted with Colby’s family’s testimony and his ignored pleas to see Presley. Recovered messages linked Rachiel’s ex-stepfather, Jason Curtis, to the crime, leading to his arrest with a weapon ballistically matched to the murder weapon. Financial records showed Rachiel sent funds for gas the night of the shooting.

On March 7, 2021, deputies in Gunnison County, Colorado, found Ana Rascon’s body in a remote snow-covered area, with signs of a violent struggle and an ice pick as the weapon. Rascon, 22, a mother of three, had financial and mental health struggles. Investigators linked 23-year-old Jorge Solis, a local acquaintance with a criminal record, to the crime via surveillance, footprints, and evidence from his backpack. Solis admitted to the murder during interrogation but offered delusional claims. He was sentenced to 42 years in prison in 2023. The motive remains unclear.

A welfare check revealed a perplexing scene with no clear suspect or evidence. Investigators linked the case to an elderly man’s financial irregularities, uncovering a bank employee’s access to his funds and family concerns. The banker and her husband’s conflicting accounts, supported by phone records and banking documents, exposed a scheme driven by financial desperation. Both faced legal consequences, with one receiving a life sentence and the other a reduced term for cooperation.

David Heisler's 2016 death followed a custody dispute with ex-partner Kelley Perry. Perry and accomplices, Francis McCard and Tammy Freeman, abducted him after a Utah court granted Heisler custody. His remains were found near the Utah-Arizona border. Investigators linked McCard and Perry to restraining him, then driving him out of state. Freeman, Perry's mother, aided the plan. All three were convicted; McCard received 75 years, Freeman a lesser felony, and Perry 35 years.
