Former British government minister Ann Widdecombe, 78, was killed at her home near Haytor on Dartmoor on 8 July 2026. She was discovered the following morning after failing to appear for a scheduled television interview. Joshua Kerry, 28, has since been charged with her murder, while counter-terrorism police continue investigating the motive behind the attack.

American fitness influencer and bodybuilder Connor Murphy died in Thailand on 7 July 2026 after entering a lake near the luxury residential property where he was staying. Witnesses reported unusual behaviour shortly before his death, while evidence recovered by police prompted further investigation and an autopsy to establish exactly what happened.

Ashley Flynn, 37, was a teacher, volleyball coach and mother of two who was murdered inside her family home in Tipp City, Ohio, on February 16, 2026. Her husband, Caleb Flynn, initially told police that an intruder had entered the house and shot Ashley while she slept. Investigators found inconsistencies in his account and evidence suggesting the scene had been staged. Flynn was subsequently charged with her murder. Prosecutors presented evidence that he was having an affair with Alleigha Botner and had exchanged messages with her about Ashley and their future together. On September 29, 2026, Flynn was convicted of aggravated murder and other offences. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole on October 5, 2026.

Filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were stabbed to death at their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on December 14, 2025. Their son, Nick Reiner, was arrested hours later and charged with both murders. A grand jury subsequently indicted him on two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances alleging multiple murders and lying in wait.

Henry Nowak was an 18-year-old university student who had recently moved to Southampton to attend the University of Southampton. On 3 December 2025, he was fatally stabbed during an encounter with 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa. Following the attack, Digwa falsely claimed that he had been the victim of a racist assault.

The Owl Bar shooting in Anaconda, Montana, became one of the state’s deadliest recent mass shootings after four people were killed inside the bar in 2025. Authorities later identified Michael Paul Brown as the gunman responsible for the attack.
