Conrad Murray is the man who killed Michael Jackson. He was also Jackson's personal doctor, who was paid $150,000 a month to keep his star patient healthy. In 2011 a jury found Conrad Murray guilty of involuntary manslaughter, convinced he gave the pop star a lethal dose of Propofol, a sedative usually only used in surgery. Conrad Murray spent two years in prison for his crime and has just been released. In 2013, for the first time, he told his story about what really happened that night to 60 Minutes. Killing Michael Jackson is a 2019 documentary film directed and produced by ZigZag, focusing on the death of singer Michael Jackson. The documentary features Orlando Martinez, Dan Myers and Scott Smith – three detectives who were involved in the initial investigation of Jackson's death. On June 25, 2009, American singer Michael Jackson died of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication at his home on North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills. His personal physician, Conrad Murray, said he found Jackson in his room, not breathing and with a weak pulse, and administered CPR on Jackson to no avail. On August 28, 2009, the Los Angeles County Coroner ruled that Jackson's death was a homicide. Shortly before his death, Jackson had reportedly been administered propofol and two anti-anxiety benzodiazepines, lorazepam, and midazolam, in his home. Law enforcement officials charged Murray with involuntary manslaughter on November 7, 2011, and served two years of his four-year prison sentence, early release per good behavior. 'Leaving Neverland 2: Surviving Michael Jackson' charts the ten-year quest by Wade Robson and James Safechuck to have their claims heard in court against some of entertainer Michael Jackson’s companies, which allegedly enabled and covered up years of child sexual abuse by the “King of Pop”. Wade and James’ quest for justice began more than ten years ago when they filed civil lawsuits against some of the late entertainer’s corporations in a California court, alleging that MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures enabled and covered up their sexual abuse as children. The Jackson lawyers have fought back, accusing the men, amongst other things, of being liars and arguing that there is no basis in law for the men’s claims. The documentary picks up the story of the two men’s legal battles in the wake of the 2019 release of the 'Leaving Neverland' documentary, which alleged that the entertainer had sexually abused Wade and James over a period of years. In 'Leaving Neverland 2' we see Wade’s and James’s civil cases twice thrown out by the California District Court and twice reversed on appeal by the California Court of Appeals. A civil trial is set for 2026. The documentary tells the story principally through the eyes of the two young men and their attorneys and their journey to a civil trial scheduled for 2026, often dipping behind the scenes to chronicle the emotional toll on James and his family. Material for the film was shot over a seven-year period and includes interviews with LAPD detectives who investigated Michael Jackson while he was alive, in which new details from the LAPD files are revealed.
