The Case of Ann Widdecombe
Former British government minister Ann Widdecombe, 78, was killed at her home near Haytor on Dartmoor on 8 July 2026. She was discovered the following morning after failing to appear for a scheduled television interview. Joshua Kerry, 28, has since been charged with her murder, while counter-terrorism police continue investigating the motive behind the attack.

The Case of Connor Murphy
American fitness influencer and bodybuilder Connor Murphy died in Thailand on 7 July 2026 after entering a lake near the luxury residential property where he was staying. Witnesses reported unusual behaviour shortly before his death, while evidence recovered by police prompted further investigation and an autopsy to establish exactly what happened.

The Case of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh
Margaret "Maggie" Murdaugh, 52, and her 22-year-old son, Paul Murdaugh, were shot to death at the family's Moselle property in Colleton County, South Carolina, on June 7, 2021. Alex Murdaugh was convicted of both murders in 2023 and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences, but the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned those convictions in May 2026 after finding that a court clerk improperly influenced the jury. Prosecutors have announced plans to retry him.

The Case of Rob and Michele Reiner
Filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were stabbed to death at their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on December 14, 2025. Their son, Nick Reiner, was arrested hours later and charged with both murders. A grand jury subsequently indicted him on two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances alleging multiple murders and lying in wait.

The Case of Shanoha Hansell
Shanoha Michelle Hansell, 40, was found dead in Wichita, Kansas, on 28 February 2023. Police initially treated her death as an investigation into an unexplained death, with the cause and manner of death still under investigation. Derek Joseph Daigneault, who had been in a relationship with Hansell, was later linked to the case but was never convicted of her death.

The Case of the Family Murders by Diego Leyva
Leonardo Leyva, Adriana Bencomo and their teenage sons Adrian and Alexander were found shot dead at their family home near Belen, New Mexico, on 14 December 2024. Sixteen-year-old Diego Leyva allegedly called 911 and told authorities he had killed his family before surrendering to deputies. He was subsequently charged with four counts of first-degree murder.
